I feel a strong bond with unheralded women artists, erased from art history, who created original designs and strong visual statements using traditional handcraft materials and techniques.
Using traditionally “feminine” mediums, I create art that is rooted in my love of the shapes, colors and forms found in the natural world I create protest art, exploring contemporary societal issues including femicide, guns, controversial scientific advancements, environmental impacts, war and forced migration. I also create art relating to personal issues such as relationships and the nature of memory.
My style is improvisational and fluid. My art-making is inspired by my emotional reaction to the world as I experience it. I aspire to be a “Jazz Textile Artist.”
